"Since I started receiving payments from GiveDirectly, the biggest changes in my daily life have been the improvements to my livestock management and the upgrade of my chicken coop. With the financial support received, I was able to fence around my fields, using partitions to control the movement of my cows. This has made it easier to confine the animals and move them to the next partition when they have exhausted the available grass. Additionally, I was able to purchase a new chain-link fence for the chicken coop, along with iron sheets to improve its durability. These changes have made it possible for me to manage my livestock and poultry more efficiently and have had a significant impact on the overall productivity of my farm."

"Since I began receiving my initial payment from GiveDirectly, my household has witnessed significant changes that would have been impossible without the financial assistance. The most notable differences in my daily life have been the expansion of my grocery business and the ability to pay for my child's education. Previously, I had to rely on a small vegetable business to cover both household expenses and school fees. However, with the cash support, I have been able to invest in my business, resulting in higher profits that I can use to pay for other significant bills."

"Though I have had several goals, I have singled out to pursue a driving course this year. It is a work in progress, and I hope to accomplish it before the year ends. I consider undertaking this course because it will help me acquire skills that can help to secure a job in a transport company. As a result, I will have an opportunity to work and supplement our household's income. Since it is the first course I have taken since completing my primary education, I am looking forward to its completion."

"My main goal is to be a driver and have an additional income to support my growing family, therefore, I plan to join a driving school to enable me to attain a truck driving license that would open for me doors of opportunities in the driving field. To achieve my goal, I would be selling and buying more poultry where I plan to sell one at $13 so that the proceeds that I would be getting would be of help in terms of facilitating my driving fees."

"My future goal is to have a better house. The house that I am currently living in is a bit small considering that I have a bigger family of 8, I find it very difficult to have my children sleep comfortably because most times they are forced to share the small space since it is a one-roomed house. I would therefore want to build a bigger house with different rooms to allow them to have a good space, and to achieve this, I would be saving $10 every month from the transfers that I would be receiving to enable me to achieve my goal."

"The challenge I'm faced with at the moment is the lack of food and other basic needs. It has been 3 years since we had enough rain which have led to a lack of food and also livestock deaths. Because of the drought, I have not been able to plant my farm and therefore I don't have food. In addition to this, because of the drought life has become hard and I don't get casual work that I depend on to purchase basic needs. This has made my life difficult since I cannot meet all my needs and sometimes I'm forced to go hungry due to lack of food."

"I face many challenges in my life but the most pressing challenge that I'm faced with is the drought. Our village has not experienced heavy rains for the past 2 years which has led to a lack of water and grass for our livestock. This has forced me to go a whole day looking for leaves for the livestock to eat which has made life very difficult. I sometimes have to go hungry because of the lack of food since we've not had productivity on our farms for a long time."

"I have several capital-intensive projects running this year. I want to start a chicken-rearing business and build my house too. My brother-in-law gave my husband the house we live in now when we got married since my husband did not have a house. It is a one-room house and as our family is growing we would like to have more space. This has however been impossible since my husband is our sole breadwinner, his siblings depend on him for school fees and he also needs to take care of us and this does not allow for making big savings for big projects. So when I got enrolled in GD and started receiving GD transfers I decided to contribute to this. I am saving $20 monthly and so far I have $150 which I hope to use for the house. I am also setting up a structure for chicken since I want to start rearing layers chicken for the eggs. I want to sells eggs to try get some income as a result."

"As I mentioned earlier I am a motorcycle rider. It has been my source of income for many years but the recent years business has plummeted. I do not make as much as I used before and this has affected my family. However, through GD transfers, I began a business selling chicken which has proven to be much more profitable than my motorcycle business. I would like to expand my business beyond its current capacity. This is something I am planning on working on this year. I want to become a big chicken farmer and through it provide for my family."
