Mdhengi
received a $26 tenth payment.
"My goal for the year is to start an animal farming project. I have four goats which I had through GD. I had bought six, but two died due to the drought we have been facing. I was hoping to grow my flock to sixty goats, which is still a hope I have. I want to be able to take care of my finaces whenever work is slow. I have a roadside video shop where I show football matches. I get a lot of work on weekends and during big games, this however is very seasonal. When there are no games I can sell a goat and buy food for the family or get medicine."

Kadii
received a $26 fourteenth payment.
"My personal goal this year is to get my children through school. I do not want any of them to miss out on school because of finances. I had mentioned earlier that 8 of my children are in school. The 6 in primary school require $4.5 a month for school fees while the one in secondary requires $100 fees. My child in junior high school is the only one we are yet to start paying school fees for. This is to say our largest budget in the house is school fees. I would like to spend the money we get making sure these amounts do not accumulate which will lead us to debts."

Kavumbi
received a $26 tenth payment.
"As I had said we are struggling as a family especially with the drought and the high cost of living. I have 5 children in school and their school fees per tem is about $190. My child in secondary schoo, form one requires the most money at $150 per term, while the youngest requires the least at $5 per term. We plan as a family to use the GD transfers to cover payment for school fees for this children to ensure they are able to attend school without fail. I also have a plan of getting chicken and goats. These animals are profitable since they procreate fast and can easily be sold for cash."

Isaac
received a $26 tenth payment.
"I have been saving $15 a month. I decided to do this when I began receiving the transfers. I have always wanted to be a surveyor and this dream felt like it would be cut short due to a lack of finances. My dad was the main breadwinner but he fell ill and hence could no longer take care of us. I could not join college once after my secondary school to study survey due to this. I now am working to see if I can achieve this dream I am hopeful that if I reach an amount that I can pay to the school so I can start out I will have a better footing."

Lilian
received a $26 tenth payment.
"As I said, I have been struggling to meet my daily needs due to my lack of work. I also separated from my husband, this laid the whole burden of myself and child on me. I ave a small business selling foods such as local doughnuts, also known as 'mahamri' to try and make ends meet. I however need a source of income that can make money even when I cannot make money through working due to illness. I want to add more animals, goats sheep, chicken, which I can sell in the hopes of making some money for use."

Dama
received a $26 second payment.
"I have been living in a one-room house with my two children. This house is quite old as its been here even before I was married. The roof is very worn out that parts of it leak. In turn, whenever there is rain, we are forced to find points in the house where the roof is intact to allow us to sleep through the night. This leakage means that my children sometimes catch the flu because they may get cold if we do not notice the leaks early. I have wanted to biuld a better house but due to the state of our finances I have been unable to meet this need. I hope to build this house through the GD transfers I get this year."

Elias
received a $26 tenth payment.
"My goal for this year is to be self-employed. Since mid-last year, I have been an employee in a local grocery kiosk. I had been earning approximately $20 in a month when my employer split his profits with me and during the months that I was lucky, I got $50. When I received GD transfers, I knew I could work towards increasing my monthly income as my initial income did not suffice. Since I started buying my own fish and groceries to sell my income has increased by five percent. I want to have a much more steady increase so I can eventually start my own grocery shop. This will allow me achieve other goals that I have set and significantly broaden my horizon."

"I currently live in a makeshift house. Started building a 2-roomed house 2 years ago. During rainy seasons it's difficult sleeping for me. I live in a hut and the goats sleep nearby. It's really difficult for me when my two daughters visit. As they visit, I ask neighbors to host them which stresses me a lot. This has affected my ability to stay with my daughters since I separated with my wife."
