Kobilo
enrolled.
"The biggest challenge as a family is lack of consistent source of income. We depend mainly on our small piece of land which dried up because of the drought. Due to the inability to raise money, we face food shortage. We're a family of 6, and feeding us all is quite difficult. This has affected the health and nutrition of my grandchildren. I live with my grandchildren, since my daughter returned home.
It's difficult raising a family without a job or a source of livelihood."

"What has been challenging for us is lack of food. The last rains we experienced was three years ago. Since we depend on livestock it's difficult hearding them during the drought season. Their numbers have reduced, this stresses me.
I am always worried about my next meal. If the rains don't come back it could get very difficult for us. We Buying food expensive unlike in the past when we could plant our own farms."

Eunice
received a $408 second payment.
"Now that I have been able to purchase the piece of land, I would like to put up a decent house that can accommodate my entire family of four. The previous one is quite small and has no portions, so if a friend comes over, they can see everything, which I felt embarrassed about at times. Besides, I trust that once I have constructed the new house, I will be able to safeguard my privacy from my two children."

"My husband and I work on the fields on a regular and we only rly on the crops that we harvest to sustain our family. It was around 9 in the morning when I received the transfer SMS. My husband was working in the fields but I was home. I jumped for joy on receiving these good news and I waited for my husband to come home. He was home at around 1 pm and I told him the good news. We rushed together to the nearest MoMo agent to withdraw and we immediately thought of buying a mattress, livestock and some food for our home. We could not believe our eyes when we received our first transfer."

Joseph
received a $417 second payment.
"In the coming year and beyond, I would want to purchase livestock, especially goats. I believe that these are valuable assets considering that they can thrive so well in my region. Also I am certain that once I will succeed in rearing them, I will not longer be stressed up incase of any financial constraints. Also, even as they will be increasing in number, I can as well think of exchanging them for a cow and start practising dairy farming. "
