Rachel
received a $25 fourteenth payment.
"My goal is to start a kiosk business within the next few years to establish a reliable source of income for my household. I was inspired by my father, who supported our family through the income generated from his own kiosk business. Even after his passing, our family never faced significant financial challenges because the shop continued to bring in income. I aspire to create a similar business to ensure financial stability for my household. With all four members of our household receiving cash transfers, we have collectively agreed to set aside a portion of the funds towards achieving this goal."

Felix
received a $129 initial payment.
"Receiving my initial transfer from GiveDirectly provided me with the opportunity to address a long-standing challenge on my land. I decided to allocate part of the funds toward fencing to protect my crops from intruders and wild animals. Before this, financial constraints had prevented me from pursuing this endeavor, as I had previously worked as a barber until my employer closed temporarily for renovations, leaving me without a job. Additionally, I experienced personal difficulties as my wife was taken away by her family for medical treatment, as they believed she was the cause of our inability to have children. Despite these challenges, I remained determined to improve my situation. With $80, I made a substantial investment in fencing my land. Moreover, I used $70 to purchase a sack of maize and $30 to clear a long-standing debt. The support provided by GiveDirectly has had a profound and unexpected impact on my life. The ability to invest in securing my land and acquiring essential provisions has brought immense relief. I am sincerely grateful for the assistance I received and the positive transformation it has brought to my existence."

Irine
received a $323 second payment.
"GiveDirectly has had a profound impact on our lives, providing us with much-needed financial assistance. The enrollment process was transparent, and we all received the unrestricted cash as promised. This support came at a critical time during a drought season, alleviating our immediate needs without the expectation of repayment. Thus far, I have not observed any operational inefficiencies within the organization, and we are truly grateful for the positive influence it has had on our lives."

Jane
received a $323 third payment.
"When I received my payments, I was filled with thankfulness, so as one of my top objectives was ensuring that my family's basic requirements were met, I spent $150 on food supplies to get us through tough times, as having two meals a day has been a challenge for my family. This gave not just instant relief from hunger, but also a sense of security and warmth.
Education has always been a cornerstone in our family, and I was determined to secure a better future for my children, so I set aside $150 of the transfers to pay their school fees so that they could attend school on a consistent basis.
I joined a table banking club in my community and contributed $12 to help us meet our needs in future."

Sidi
received a $25 fourteenth payment.
"As I said earlier I am a single mother with four children and the burden of taking care of them can sometimes be overwhelming. I am not employed and only sell small fish as a way of making ends meet. I do not make much from this since the business is really small. I wish I had a sustainable business which I could use as a source of income. I do not have a definite business yet to which I would wish to venture but my hope is with subsequent transfer I will be able to set up shop and also buy a couple more animals as an investment."

Abdala
received a $25 fourteenth payment.
"My goal for the year is to take myself and my sister through school. Our mother is a farmer and this does not earn much and whenever she does casual labour it does not pay much either so that means that without the transfers we cannot get through school. I hope to use this transfers so I can get through form two and ensure that I complete my education within good time."

Shida
received a $25 tenth payment.
"My life has changed. I have now become a farmer as a result of the rain and I hope that the maize we have planted will be harvested for consumption and this would mean that we would not need to buy food. I want to use that money that would have been spent on food on buying animals. I believe they are a good investment. They are able to multiply in number and I can sell them to make some money. I want to grow my flocks to significantly large numbers that are beneficial to em as a farmer too."

Amina
received a $25 tenth payment.
"I have currently planted maize in my farm with the aim of harvesting for food. I am hoping to harvest a sufficient amount that I hoped would be used for feeding the family. This will allow me to redirect the monthly expenditure on food to purchase goats and chicken for rearing. I want to be able to remember this project even once it comes to an end and also have an investement that will allow me to take my children to school and feed them."

Saumu
received a tenth payment.
"I am a single mother of one and solely depends on myself to get an income for covering needs. I used to do casual labour where I would do laundry, clean the house or even till people's lands to ensure I can make ends meet. In April I was finally able to get some money which I used to start a grocery business at $10. I started this business to increase my income since the casual jobs were not as consistent or reliable. I hope to invest more in the business so I can be more self sufficient which a bigger income. I also used the cash to buy a mattress since as I said I slept on a sisal mat before. My hope is to buy a bed so I can equally have a good place to sleep for myself and child."

Josphat
received a $25 tenth payment.
"I am the fourth of six children with a mother who is a farmer and a father who is hired to herd cattle and he is the primary breadwinner. I also have older siblings who live in the city trying to make something of themselves. my oldest brother is responsible for our school fees payments as what my parents earn is not enough to take care of schooling. I hope to continue using my transfers on school hopefully until I can clear school. I believe this will allow me to focus without distractions on missing out on school so much and I will be able to make something of my self once I finish school and get a good grade."
