Mary
received a $324 third payment.
"All we ever needed was a little support to unleash our true potential. Give Directly recognized that financial constraints has often been the biggest barrier to progress and decided to address this issue head-on. Through their unconditional transfer program, they provided direct funds to us and our families in need, without any strings attached.
The impact of these unconditional transfers was nothing short of remarkable. One by one, our lives were transformed, and hope was reignited. Families who had struggled to put food on the table were now able to enjoy nutritious meals every day. Children who had been forced to drop out of school due to financial constraints were now able to pursue their dreams of education. Entrepreneurs who lacked the necessary capital to start or expand their businesses suddenly found themselves with newfound opportunities due to the financial responsibility given to us by Give Directly transfers to use the funds unconditionally."

Neema
received a tenth payment.
"After graduating from high school in 2021, I faced a major obstacle in pursuing higher education: lack of funds. Living with my elderly grandparents, who are unable to financially contribute, made it even more challenging. Although my uncle occasionally helps us with our food expenses, his support is limited to that. Fortunately, the cash transfers I receive have presented a great opportunity for me as I plan to set aside some funds for my education. In the coming years, my main goal is to enroll in language studies, particularly in French, and complete my education. This is because my ultimate dream is to become a tour guide, and being proficient in different languages will work to my advantage."

Elina
received a $25 tenth payment.
"I aim to utilize the half-acre piece of land we own at the trade center in our village. My husband and I have always dreamt of constructing a rental house there, but financial constraints have prevented us from doing so. The limited earnings from our casual jobs have made it difficult to afford the construction costs. However, with the cash transfers, I see a possibility of realizing our dream. While constructing a brick house might be expensive, I would be content if we could afford to build one with mud walls. This additional income stream from the rental house would greatly improve our financial situation and provide a better living for our two children."

Sharlet

"My ambition as a young girl who has completed school and is still living under my father's roof is to no longer be a burden to him. With my five siblings still relying on him for their education, I wish to alleviate some of that responsibility. I aspire to achieve financial independence and contribute to the betterment of our family. Instead, I aspire to attain financial independence and support my family. To achieve this, I plan to open a business selling vegetables in my village as a source of income."

Mwenda
received an initial payment.
"I decided to build a house for my 20-year-old son after receiving the first transfer because the one he had collapsed. Since then, he has sought refuge from friends, which did not offer me peace of mind and led to my choice. I can't even remember how much money I spent on the property, but the fact that my son now has his own home and can support himself courtesy of GiveDirectly is a plus. After that, I made up any unpaid school tuition for my seven kids. Five of them are in primary school, two are in high school. I spent $30 on the elementary school students and $90 on the high school students. Since my spouse and I both work as temporary employees, I decided to keep the remaining amount for the family's upkeep."

Kabibi
received a tenth payment.
"My future goal is to have a bigger house. The house that I am currently living in is a bit small considering that I have a family which is still growing and therefore I would need a bigger space in the future. My plan is therefore buy goats for rearing hoping that they would bear offspring in the future, then later sell them after a few years and spend the money on my house construction."
