What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought zinc to start the construction of a new house. The one that I live in is very old and leaks everytime it rains. But I have not been able to build a new house on my own. Receiving this payment has empowered me a lot to purchase enough zinc to construct a new house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Being able to buy enough zinc to build a house is the biggest difference that this payment has make in my daily life. I am so much grateful for this opportunity. Because I never thought of receiving such a cash to buy more house materials to begin the construction of a new house.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was happy when I received my money. I never expected to have received such a cash that I didn't work for. I feel very lucky to be enrolled into GiveDirectly cash transfer program.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My family's only source of income is the little produce we get from the subsistence farming we do. The money my family and I acquire from farming activities is not sufficient to sustain my family and build a house. With this, the lack of sufficient cash poses a serious challenge to overcome the above situations.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Being sick for several years and seeking traditional treatment in another town was very stressful and lost hope in life. Seeing myself fully recovered and being enrolled in the GiveDirectly program brings me so much joy, life, and hope
What does receiving this money mean to you?
For the past few years, I was very sick to the point that my family and I had to move to another town to seek traditional treatment leaving my house with my little brother to offer care. Upon my return, I met my house in a deplorable state. With this, if I am eligible to receive the GiveDirectly cash grant, I will rebuilt my house.
