"Due to my advanced age, I spend my days at home alone. This gave me the idea for something I want to do once I have some money. I want to open a store where I will sell food items and other personal items. By doing this, I will be working in a helpful light duty that will allow me to have an income-generating activity, allowing me to accomplish some other things that I am currently unable to do due to a lack of money."

"The biggest problem we experience here is the long drought. We have not had rain for the last 6 months. This has dried most of the vegetation. Since we depend on livestock, it's difficult raising many. At this moment you only raise 5, unlike when it's raining. One can raise over 10. This has affected our income as a family. This year we sold our cow cheaply because it was not healthy. Sold it for $90. Normally it would cost at least $150. This has affected our ability to pay school fees."

"The challenge I'm facing at the moment is a lack of money. I have seven children and two are in high school and both need school fees. However, I haven't been able to pay for their tuition because I lack money. The small business I run in the village is not as productive as well but gives me something to feed my other children that have not joined secondary school. We also lack food which is a challenge since this place is very dry and we haven't had rains for a long time. We sometimes have to go with one meal a day or even go hungry whenever we don't get food."

"I am hoping that we will have enough rains this year because I wanted to focus on farming so that I can harvest enough food for family consumption and for commercial consumption. Achieving this means that I will be able to pay school fees for my children."

"Currently, I only have one house that is not spacious enough to accommodate all my children. I have not been having a kitchen, and as a result, my younger children are often forced to spend in the neighborhood. My goal is to build a spacious kitchen that will serve the purpose of cooking and a sleeping area for my younger children. It will save them from the stress of spending in the neighborhood. I also hope to use part of the transfers to promote my farming practices immediately after we begin experiencing some rain."

"My goals have been to run a business, grow animals, and pay my children's education expenses. Due to our meager income, I have been finding it difficult to work on these tasks. As I continue to receive such transfers, my main goal is to divert a portion of my transfers to fee payment. I shall also be using a portion to buy goats for livestock keeping since most of my children are in primary school, and by the time they will join secondary school, the program shall have come to a close. Lastly, I would want to have a diversified source of income hence my plan to invest in the business."

"My goal is to buy more goats this year so that I can venture into livestock keeping. Livestock keeping is a feasible venture and I always envy my husband who has eight goats. I am hopeful that when I begin the project, it will be beneficial to me post the end of the transfer period. In addition, I also target to be spending a portion to pay school fees for my school-going children. Seeing them succeed in their academic pursuit will be my delight."

"The main challenge we are facing is hunger, we don't have enough food at home. Food deficit is mainly caused by the fact that we don't have land for agriculture. In order to get some food stuffs such as beans, cassava and sweet potatoes, we have to go to cultivate for others. Sometimes my kid go at school with an empty stomach and when I have not yet paid lunch for him school it becomes a big issue for us."

"Paying for our insurance is very hard for our family, we have a big family of 7 people and to get money to pay for it is very challenging and up to now one of our family member doesn't have an insurance. Our house is very small and it rains inside and we can't sit in the living room when it happens. Our land is very small and to be able to provide for our family we have to rent a land and that makes us do casual labour daily to be able to get the money to pay for the rent. Being able to access enough fertilisers is very expensive. We buy as little as possible to use, and we can't afford to put it in the whole land at once to help us have enough harvest."

"Because I do not have any alternative sources of funds to support my children's education, my goal with this year's transfer is to build my savings. I aim to be spending those savings on paying school fees so that they do not miss any classes. Their success in academics will be my pride as a mother because, through that, they will be able to later on be responsible people without having to rely on external support. In addition, I shall also be buying a few hens in order to run a small-scale poultry project."
