Tabitha
received an initial payment.
"I am a single mother of two children who still live on my parents' property. To support my children, I work as a hairdresser. After receiving my transfer, I decided to purchase a dairy cow in order to reduce the cost of purchasing milk daily, which was costly. As a result, I spent $350 on a dairy cow. Second, I spent $40 on a mattress, and the remainder was spent on groceries. I am so grateful and content that GiveDirectly's assistance has significantly improved my standard of living in such a short period."

"Before the year ends I am hoping that I would have saved up enough money so that I can finally build my own house. Apart from that,I was also hoping that this money will allow me to finally enroll into college this year where I can learn to be a teacher. I also intend on using the money to buy a couple of new attire for myself and my kid because most of our old ones are worn out."

received a sixth payment.
"I had hoped to save up a sizable sum of the transfers this year, and when I did, I could use the money to add extra room to my home. This is due to the fact that I share my home with my grandchildren, and since my small room cannot accommodate me and the three of them, some of them must sleep on the floor. We also occasionally struggle with nutrition, therefore I also intend to use the money on food."

"I want to buy more iron sheets with the transfers this year, and then I'll start buying lumber. Since I currently reside at one of my relatives' homes, my ultimate goal in the entire process is to one day own my own home. Aside from that, I'll also consider nutrition-related issues because they've been a persistent source of difficulty for me and my children. My plan also includes financing my three children's tuition since I want them to continue their education unhindered."

"We have been orphaned since our young age me and my two sisters, our mother passed away since I was 2 years old and it's been many years since we have been living alone because our father left us when our mother died and we never knew him growing up. we are not able to work and be able to sustain our lives , we have sought support from the government and other relatives to be able to survive.
My young sister Francoise was not able to continue her studies because we are not capable of paying for our school fees and my twin sister Donatha had to drop out and went to another sector to work for some money to help me go to school."

"Being a farmer, my focus is primarily on grains, which grow well whenever there is sufficient rainfall. I often obtain a good crop during this time that is enough to last us for a full year, usually more than two bags, each weighing 90 kg. Due to the protracted drought, I currently harvest less than a bag, and in most cases, it is not enough to keep us fed for a month. My objective is to begin commercial chicken farming in order to increase my income. I'll be investing in at least two chickens each month to help me reach my goal. I will eventually sell some of them after the project has stabilized in order to raise money for our kids' school costs. As a result, my spouse won't have to bear the responsibility of being the only provider."

"My main goal is to support my children's education. I shall always divert most of my transfer to ensure that they have an opportunity to go to school and focus on their studies. Previously, I had begun to worry about how I could raise their fees based on my health condition. I am glad that I am in the GiveDirectly cash transfer program, and through this, I see the goal of supporting their education attainable. I know when they succeed, they will be responsible people in society. Thanks to GiveDirectly for the financial support."

"Previously I had seven fully grown goats. Unfortunately, all of them died barely two years ago. Since then, I have not raised some, although I desire to keep livestock. Goats are my preferred livestock because they have shorter gestation period and are more beneficial than sheep. I will start working toward raising cows as soon as I acquire at least five goats. The seven cows I currently own make me long to have more. Once these goals are achieved, my family will have access to free milk. As a result, we will have food supplementary."

"20 years ago, our area had huge forests and people lived in harmony since we used to receive plenty of rainfall but this is not the case at the moment. Due to deforestation, the area is now desert and we no longer depend on farming because of prolonged droughts. We are currently depending on charcoal work which is also not reliable because we are forced to dig out tree remains to make the charcoal. This has made life so difficult and meeting our basic has always been a task for us. This has affected my children's education since my first son had to drop out of school when he was in form three. What a life! In addition, we are living a very miserable life which does not give me peace of mind. Thus, these are the challenges that I am currently facing in my life."
