Jumwa
received a $28 ninth payment.
"To be honest, my three children would have dropped out of school by now were it not for the cash transfers. The $5 I make every week from burning charcoal would not have kept them in school. Being a widow, I lack extra support to provide for my children, and it could be overwhelming sometimes. However, I thank God for the cash transfers for they have covered most of their school fees. Supporting my children’s education is how I plan to continue spending my transfers. Right now, one of them is set to be admitted to high school and I intend to channel everything from the next transfer toward that course. Am certain that education is the surest way they will eventually pull us out of poverty."

"I feel like life has been so unfair to me because I have had so many challenges in life and the biggest one has been the separation with my wife and children. They just left one Sunday morning claiming that they were going to church never to return again. I think they left because of my poor income status, I survive on casual jobs and it is so difficult to find some work nowadays. I would sometimes come home without a coin and wee would sleep hungry and I guess she wass no longer comfortable with that. I want my family to come back so that I can feel safe and have a stable mind"

"The challenge I meet is lack of money. We don't have money to buy a mattress and bed for comfortable sleep. Sleep is essential and ensures one's productivity the next day. We also don't food because we don't harvest much due to poor rains. This makes us to looking for casual work in people's houses to be able to buy food. Our house is on bad shape and we'd like to renovate it and make it look presentable."

"My family is big and we struggle to make ends meet. There is no stable source of income aside farming. But we often don't harvest enough and end up doing casual work for money. This is hard since we live hand to mouth and barely make enough. I fail to pay for my children's education because of the same lack of money."
