Hajida
received a second payment.
"We are a family of five members and my husband works as a casual laborer on construction sites or as a motorcycle rider. He earns as little as $20 in two weeks. As soon as I got enrolled in the program, we renovated my home because it was on the verge of collapsing, and with the coming of my third child, it would not be the best environment to raise our newborn child. I used my first transfer in renovating the house and school fees for my only child at school. The second transfer of $240 was used to complete the renovations, which were plastering a two-roomed house and a verandah and I used $40 in the hospital during the delivery of my son. We spent the remaining $250 on food and newborn items, like diapers and clothes, that I needed. I was grateful because, at the moment of transfer, I was in labor and with no savings to even pay for a government hospital. In addition, the household didn't have sufficient food and my husband was still looking for a job."

Remmy
received a $435 second payment.
"I would like to expand my current business. Initially, I wanted to open a grocery which would cost me a lot more than what I used with my current business. The combination of a vegetable stall and a grocery would increase my income, which would allow me to accomplish my long-term goals like buying a plot and building my house."

"I have shop businesses selling variety of shop items. I started with a capital of $5 on January 2022. It has grown well such that I am now having a capital of $200. The business has had a challenge of debt defaulters in the past one month. I have customers who have been taking items on credit and currently, I have around $100 that I will never recover from the defaulter. That is the challenge I am currently facing."

"I am a father of eight and I got an accident five years ago when I was working with Petro city petrol station in Mombasa. On January 2017 a container slides from one of the lorries and fell on my left leg. I lost consciousness and was rushed to the hospital. My leg was amputated and my lifestyle changed forever. Later on 2020, I suffered a stroke that made me unable to walk completely. I am always indoors. The accident and stroke affected my work. I only depend on my son who works as a teacher. My wife Zawadi is mentally challenged and she cannot even take care of me. I get assistance from the neighbours in terms of dressing and washing my body. Being an ability to stand on my own and walk is the challenge I am currently facing."
