"I have three children in secondary school. It's hard raising their school fees, it's a lot of money to pay for us. Another child will be joining next year. One child needs about $500 for a full year of education.
Raising this amount is difficult and our children are always send home. We depend on burning charcoal, their are specific trees that are allowed. Doing charcoal burning and casual jobs cannot fully sustain our children's education. We're always worried about their futures, education is very important."

"It's been difficult feeding my family of 3. I separated with my husband and now fully supporting my 2 children. My ex-husband left with one child. Providing for a family alone has been hard, especially with the elongated drought. This means I depend on casual jobs such as washing people's clothes for a living. It's not reliable, sometimes I don't get jobs. Therefore, I cannot provide a stable food supply for my children. It's also hard raising money to support their other needs."

"Prolonged droughts and uncertain weather patterns have been a big challenge in our lives. Since we depend on farming to make ends meet, the lack of enough rain led to poor productivity on our farm. This has forced us to purchase food for my family which is hard since I depend on casual work. This saddens me because sometimes I don't get work and my family will have to eat the little that is available."

"My biggest challenge is a lack of land. This challenge I'm facing came as a result of lake Baringo water that swallowed our lands. This forced us to move out and borrowed land from our neighbours. This however is very stressful since I cannot do any development is a land that does not belong to me."

"The biggest challenge I'm facing currently is the lack of money and strength to do farming. 2 years ago water from lake Baringo moved to my farm which distanilized me and affected my ability to farm. This has been a challenge since I don't have money to be able to do large scale farming which I solely depend on. This makes my life difficult since I have to do casual work to be able to pay school fees for my 3 children."

"I have a definite plan to persist in my goat-rearing venture. At present, I have a total of 15 goats, and these animals are invaluable assets that I can rely on to meet my financial requirements. Given my lack of regular employment and the limitations imposed by my age, which preclude me from engaging in physically demanding casual labor, these goats serve as my primary financial security. My strategy involves nurturing this herd, allowing them to reproduce, and thus expanding their numbers. This will enable me to have a consistent source of income by selling these goats when needed to support my household's financial needs."

"Lack of water is a big problem. We cannot survive without water, even the livestock struggle a lot. We fetch water 2kms away, on our backs. It's mainly women who take up this role. The task is quite challenging especially with high quantity of water needed and distance covered to collect. This has really affected my ability to focus on other things. Without water we cannot feed our family."
