"I was born into a family of 7 children and immediately after completing my studies in secondary, I could not proceed to college due to the lack of money. This means I could not get the required basic skills to compete in the job market. This was the sole reason I ended up marrying early and having a family to take care of. Since I am a casual laborer, my job mostly earns me $150 per month. I usually spend this money on offsetting my bills and other household needs. Saving for my future has never been possible and this has worried me most as a parent. I always ask myself; "how will I support my 3 children in school"? I, therefore, consider the lack of a reliable source of income as my biggest challenge."

"At my age, I do not have my own house, I currently operate from my brother's house, something that bothers me a lot seeing some of my age mates having their own houses. My goal was therefore to have my own house before the end of this year. I had already bought some iron sheets with part of my previous transfers and I would continue buying some and also saving a porting of the transfers so that I would commence the construction."

Zawadi
received a $25 tenth payment.
"Livestock rearing had been one of the most projects that I had dreamt of having. With a large family and no reliable source of income, I had thought of having an income-generating activity that would help me educate my children in the future. My goal is therefore to have as many livestock as possible so that whenever I would be faced with any financial challenges, I be able to sell and get the required money. I plan to be saving part of my monthly transfers to help me start the project."

"My goal is to set up my own business. After I shall have completed my tailoring course, I would not like to be employed by someone else and instead, I would want to set up my own tailoring sh and be my own boss. With the transfers that I would be receiving, I would ensure that I save at least $10 every month to enable me to buy a sewing machine worth $20 for my business."

received a $25 tenth payment.
"My goal was to be one of the greatest livestock rearers in the area. After reflecting on the situation at my home, I wanted to start a project that would help generate income for my family so that they would no longer experience the financial challenges and they had before. I had so far started buying livestock (chicken and goats) with part of my previous transfers, and my focus is to continue saving on most months as I also buy the livestock on some of the months."

"I consider food insecurity as the main challenge in my household. This is because being a widow staying with 3 young grandchildren is equally an added burden on me. Since their mother works as a house help, her monthly income of $50 can not sustain our needs. In most cases, we seek help from my daughter-in-law. The pain of watching them desperately at home sometimes stresses me most and this has devoured my hope as a guardian."

Rashid
received a $25 fourteenth payment.
"I have a small retail store business, but the income I get from it had never been enough to fully cater to my family’s needs. I have always wished to have a type of business whose income is enough without having to struggle to engage in other income-generating activities. My goal was therefore to expand it by adding more stock and I plan to save part of my monthly transfers so that when I shall have gathered around $100, I would immediately do the restocking."

"Lack of reliable job is the current challenge I am currently facing. I do casual jobs earning approximately $50 per month which caters for food only and my wife has no job she does domestic chores only. I have two children at school and they have a fees balance of $60 . This has made them on and out of school sometimes. Clearing this balance has been a challenge for me die to lack of reliable job."
