Baraka
received a $383 second payment.
"Employment can sometimes be stressful, more so if you report to a harsh manager or whether the company is private. I am currently employed as an electrician for a private company, which earns me $200 a month. Although it sustains my family, this job is unreliable at times; therefore, I wish to be self-employed. Therefore, in the next year, I hope to use the profits from the grocery store my wife runs as well as my savings to expand this grocery business and, hence, earn the family of three an income. I will be happy to fully venture into this business since security is a quarantee, and I will thus be my own boss."

Stanley
received a $383 second payment.
"Since I am only a few months into the municipal council clerk job, I have not saved enough to run extensive family errands, such as paying school fees for my children. Besides, the income all pays for food and my medication. Therefore, in the coming year, I hope to be employed permanently at the municipality, thereby increasing the $70 I currently earn. From the income I earn, I hope to admit my children to boarding school so they can get an adequate learning foundation to take them through their next educational life. I will be glad to have fulfilled their educational needs by paying their school fees fully."

Cheruiyot
received a $383 second payment.
"With GiveDirectly, lives have changed since people have the chance to attend to their needs without any influence. In my community, for instance, people have acquired assets such as cows, motorcycles, and houses and also educated their children. If one has to make a comparison between when the transfers were not yet` out and now, then the change is noticeable. Previously, many community members walked long distances to look for casual jobs to feed their families, but now, with the assets they have acquired, they raise their livestock and sell it to earn income for their households."

Jackson
received a tenth payment.
"I hope to start a poultry project that will generate some income in the coming year and beyond. I've been unable to walk for the past eight years due to an illness that left me physically disabled. I was working as a driver for a company when I was laid off and had to relocate to the village due to illness. Since then, I've been on medication and relying solely on my wife, who has had to work in odd jobs like burning and selling charcoal, and she has since become the breadwinner because I no longer do any physical labor. We have four young children under our care, as well as two grandsons, whose mother is also mentally ill. Despite my condition, my greatest ambition is to one day have a poultry project that will at least generate some income and that I will be able to manage effectively on my own. I intend to purchase chickens and allow them to reproduce, which will keep me occupied rather than waiting for my wife to provide and seeing her overwhelmed by so many household needs. I can easily sell the chickens to help her meet her basic needs, such as food, as well as pay school fees for the grandchildren, who are in primary school."

Sidi
received a $25 tenth payment.
"Currently, my focus is to build a new two-room house to provide a conducive habitat for me. After my old house was damaged by the rains, I had to move into my grandson's space. I feel like am depriving him of his privacy, which necessitates me to build my dwelling structure. After that is done, I aim to expand the number of goats in my shed. Currently, I have 13 goats, and I aim to increase the count to at least 19 in the coming year. This will provide me with a sustainable source of income to meet my needs. Additionally, I intend to sell some of these goats and use the proceeds to start a vegetable-selling business, which will further support both myself and my family."

received a $25 tenth payment.
"I would love to continue supporting the education of my children who are still in primary school. I want to ensure they have the opportunity to study until they graduate from their desired level of education. Even though I engage in house construction jobs to accomplish this, I believe that the cash transfers will play a crucial role in supporting their education and helping them achieve their goals as well."

Jumaa
received a tenth payment.
"I'm planning to add more goats and keep them as a source of income. I would want to rear them ,sell them and grow more and keep the cycle going.I'm planning to save more cash and add stock at my work shop. I'm hopeful that there will be a bumper harvest. This will sort out my food issues and my household will not lack food. All this will mean a stable income and I will be able to afford basic needs with ease. My children will be comfortable in school."

Amina
received a $25 fourteenth payment.
"My nine children are all currently enrolled in school, two in high school and seven in primary school, and they all rely on me for their tuition. I do not have a source of income from which I can effectively educate them in order for them to achieve their educational objectives. My husband also looks after animals, and I am a small-scale subsistence farmer. I rely on the transfer to pay their fees, which has kept them all in school so far. It has not been easy for them to raise their fees. I hope that as they progress through the program, they will be able to achieve their career objectives. Thus, my primary goal is to pay my children's fees so that their studies are not disrupted or sent home due to fees. I also intend to purchase more goats, which will aid in the education of my children. I currently own five goats, and I expect them to reproduce and multiply. I can rely on them to cover the costs of my children's education."

Benard
received a $25 fourteenth payment.
"I have for a while planned to join college to do a diploma in social work and community but I was forced to spend the little savings I had towards my brother's school fees. My plan is to join in approximately one year from now, but this largely depends on how much savings I will have made the. Having this diploma will put in a good position to get a good employment."
