"I adore and respect GiveDirectly's transparent registration process the most. I am grateful that they do not rely on information from local authorities because I am certain that I would not have benefited from the project if they did. However, I believe the organization needs to enhance their follow-up plan. Instead of making phone calls, they should be going to the village. As a result, beneficiaries will use transfers properly because they will be aware that an organization will be strictly checking on their spending."

"For years to come, I intend to keep giving my kids a solid education in the hopes that it will enhance our future. Besides, my daughter will hopefully soon complete her education, find employment, and come help me launch a kiosk business that will be a reliable source of income. This is because the nanny job I currently have at a local daycare is really demanding and time-consuming, and as I get older, I think the kiosk will help me get enough rest."

"What I like best about Give Directly is that the organization allows us to be responsible for our own spending without any strings attached, which was incredibly educational for everyone in the village. We were obliged to make our own decisions and do reasonable things to show for it."

"It has been difficult for me to pay the school tuition for my two secondary-aged children and my two primary-aged children because I completely rely on casual labor. The secondary school students had been given a week's notice to pay the remaining term fee amounts by the time I got the second transfer. I, therefore, believed that paying the fees first, then using the money for other requirements, was prudent. For all of them, I spent a total of $130 on school expenses. The drought had continued, so I chose to spend an additional $65 to buy a sack of maize to assure food security at home. Because of the drought, I was unable to buy any goats, despite my desire to invest in animal husbandry. I decided to preserve the remaining money until the rainy season so that I could buy some goats when the meadow had expanded."

"I currently live on a piece of property that I have not fully paid for. After paying 93% of the sum, the owner agreed to let me move in. I currently owe $174 and must pay it off. My objective is to make the payment in full so that I may begin totally and comfortably owning the parcel of land without worrying about being bothered by the outstanding balance. I'm hoping to complete the payment before the year is through."

"As a single mother, I want to concentrate on raising livestock. I had been saving my transfer partly last year, and I have so far purchased three goats. I want to succeed in breeding more goats for my herd can grow. I hope this venture will succeed since it can support my family after the transfer period. Even though I prioritize paying for my children's school, I eagerly anticipate purchasing a second goat this year. I will continue with this project in the upcoming years. As a result, when my kids start secondary school, at least I will be able to sell some of them to help pay for their school fees."

"Because of the current unpredictable economic situation, my goal has been to venture into business to diversify my household income. I consider this because, from it, I can raise money for food and fees for my children. As a result, my struggles are not as much as it was before. Even though my husband's income is low, we have not struggled as much as we used to before our enrolment in GiveDirectly's program. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for its continued support."

"I have been operating a motorcycle taxi while looking for employment, but it had been less profitable. I constantly have a small amount of cash after paying the owner because the motorcycle belongs to someone. I hope to build my savings and purchase a motorcycle from my subsequent monthly transfers in the upcoming periods. If I succeed to get formal employment, it will serve as a backup source of income. I will easily raise enough money with a motorcycle to support my family. It will significantly lessen the difficulties I have experienced over the past few years."

"Lack of food is the challenge I am experiencing in life. I do casual jobs earning approximately $20 per month. This caters for food only. I am a bit aged and when I work in a certain month then I have to rest for another two months due to fatigue. For the two months I depend purely on well wishes for food. I lack food and I feel if things will not change then I can grow weaker even more."

"The current challenge I am currently facing is lack of reliable source of income. My husband and I do casual jobs which gives us low income which can not sustain the family for months both food and paying school fees. This has forced one of my sons to stay away from school for the whole year due to a lack of school fees. This has affected his performance at school."
