"What is making my life harder is the financial constraints that I am currently going through. It is so painful to watch my daughter out of school for more than a week. If I imagine how tough it is to cater to her primary school education at the moment, I always think about what will be the fate if she joins secondary school. From my charcoal work, the income is barely enough to sustain all our needs. Our combined efforts with my husband earn us utmost $42, and this is very hard to balance between paying school fees and food. To an extent, we are at times compelled to forfeit meals or survive on one. This has been a very depressive moment for me and it has always devoured my hope in life. What a worrying situation!"

Mary
received a $337 second payment.
"Upon receiving the second transfer, I used it to boost my business by expanding its structure. I have an eatery business but the structure I was in,was very small in that our customers used to eat from outside in an open-air space. The structure was just enough for cooking and storage. This posed a challenge to the business as we were getting fewer customers during the rainy season. So we used $ 350 of the transfer to buy iron sheets and pay for labour services to expand the structure. We as well replaced the seats with decent ones using $ 50 since the previous ones were very old and outdated. I am glad that the renovation has attracted more customers.
Finally, I spent the remaining amount on food to ensure that we have enough for my family's consumption. "

Nyevu
received a $26 tenth payment.
"The financial program will not be here in the long –run. Even after it ends, I want to have something that could easily raise funds to cover my medication needs and food. To accomplish this, I wish to own more goats than the four that I previously obtained through cash transfers. I believe that if I acquire more goats, they will increase my sources of wealth."
