Mwenda
received a $397 second payment.
"The transfers that I received from GiveDirectly had been of great help to my family and I. I had lived in a house that was in a dilapidated state for quite some time because I did not have the financial resources to enable me to renovate or build a new one, but GiveDirectly finally came to my rescue. Of the transfers that I have been receiving, a greater portion of it had been channeled towards my new house construction with the most recent one being of help in terms of buying roofing sheets where I spent $105 and so far I am so grateful. I also had two of my children in secondary school and I was required also to settle their school fees arrears that had pilled up for several months which I paid $200. I also wanted to start a livestock rearing project and therefore bought a cow at $180 believing that it will be of help in the future and lastly bought food for my family with the remaining amount of $45. No words would express how happy and grateful I was to GiveDirectly for bringing me this far."
