Kadzo
received a $442 initial payment.
"Seeing my children dressed properly melts my heart; this was not the case previously because I did not have money for extras. Second, I was able to stock enough food in the house. I am happy and grateful that the organization made it possible for us to achieve our goals in such a short period."

received a $442 initial payment.
"The day I received my transfer, I can vividly recall that it was at 3pm when I was at home relaxing after a long day of hard work. My phone had run out of power. When I turned on my phone, I discovered that I had received $550 from GiveDirectly. I was delighted. This is because I knew that money would drastically improve our lives. I then told my wife, who was overjoyed with the news. My wife and I agreed to put our transfers toward the construction of a decent home for our family. We are grateful for the opportunity to improve our living standards."

Rachael
received a $442 initial payment.
"My deepest desire was to be able to afford a sewing machine. This is because I was forced to pay at least $6 per month for a borrowed machine. This was costly for me because I couldn't guarantee I'd make that much. My husband is a motorcycle taxi driver and I am a tailor. When I got my transfer, I spent $230 on a sewing machine. Then I spent $100 on iron sheets to build a business stall. Finally, I purchased food and a mattress. All of this was previously impossible due to unstable income sources. I am overjoyed and grateful for the financial assistance that has enabled us to pursue our dreams."

"Getting old is my greatest challenge, i live by seeking help from others because i don't have any energy to work for myself. I receive support from the government which is not enough, i have to seek support from my son Callixte to help cultivate my land and be able to produce what to eat.
I often get sick and to be able to go to the hospital i have to be carried by my children or neighbours because the roads are broken we don't have access to emergency vehicles."

"The place we work in is not fertile , we don't get enough harvest because we don't have fertiliser to use. To be able to get fertiliser we have to herd livestocks from others to get what to use. We have been in a sunny season and we were not able to produce what to eat for a while.
Another challenge we face is having a small house for our family size , we are a big family of 7 people living in one house of two rooms, our children have to sleep all together uncomfortably and some sleeps on the floor because we lack enough facilities to buy them beds to use."
