Karichwa
received a $420 second payment.
"I spent $150 on a young dairy cow when I received the second transfer. The purpose of purchasing the cow was to produce milk for both personal and business purposes. My secondary school-aged child was then sent out of school for fees, and I had to pay $100 in school fees. Right now, he feels at ease adjusting to school and starting his academics. I used the remaining $120 to purchase some food and kept the remainder for the family's maintenance."

Bendera
received a $434 second payment.
"I will be investing. Because there aren't many vegetables in our village, after conducting some study, I decided to open a grocery store. I intend to borrow some cash through a merry-go-round investment where friends pool their resources to reach this goal.
An individual may borrow money from this merry-go-round and repay it with interest calculated at 10% of the total borrowed amount."

Joseph
received a $434 second payment.
"GiveDirectly thrives by donating money to the underprivileged in the community so they can improve their homes and even invest in various initiatives of their choosing. They were able to raise their standard of living as a result. I can't think of anything GiveDirectly did poorly.
What I can suggest is that, while you do your location scouting in a region, please take into consideration the families who have trouble getting their kids to secondary schools and universities, and if feasible offer them some scholarships. This is what I'm suggesting because after you educate the youth, they will be the ones to end family poverty."

Kahonzi
received a $420 second payment.
"When I withdrew the second transfer, I first bought a bed and a mattress for $136. Initially, I was sleeping on a small traditional bed tied with ropes. That bed was not comfortable to sleep on. Currently, I sleep on a modern standard bed that has a good mattress. This has brought me happiness because I am more comfortable than before. I also spent $60 to plow my shamba ready for the planting season. After that, I renovated my house by doing flooring and also bought a durable door. Thereafter, being the breadwinner for my family, I decided to keep the remaining amount for family use as I carry on with my casual labor of charcoal burning."

Mary
received a $27 sixth payment.
"My primary goal for this year is to spend my transfers on paying school fees for my children. I currently have six school-going children, and I have been stressed about how to support their education. With the assurance of the monthly transfers, I hope my burden to raise their school fees will be easened. I will, therefore, not have to bear the burdens as it has been before courtesy of the transfers. As a result, they will advance well in their education. I am happy to see that they are currently doing well in school."

Fatuma
received a $420 second payment.
"As I had mentioned prior, I have a daughter who is pursuing a secondary education and most of the times her school fees are quite expensive. Therefore my biggest focus at the moment is to ensure that I keep my daughter in school by paying for her tuition. I also plan to ensure that we always have food on the table because it is constantly a challenge for me and my family due to drought."
