"Giving cash tranfer which was unconditional is what the organisation did well. Visiting and assessing our eligibility by asking the right questions and how we intend to transform our lives with the cash was a well-planned process. I feel everything went well and there is nothing they should charge or improve on their processes."

"This year, my primary focus is repaying for the motorcycle I purchased on credit. Making full repayment will be a relief to my family and me. However, since my current house is small and leaky, I want to build a new, spacious one. Therefore, once I have paid off the motorcycle, my primary focus will be saving for building materials. A new house will equally serve my family well, and none of the children will have to face the challenges of walking at night to go and spend in the neighborhood."

"Since I got married, I have lived in a makuti-roofed house. However, regular roof maintenance is always costly. As a result, when the new year began, I set a goal of constructing a new 30 iron-sheet roofed house. I know that type of a house will comfortably accommodate my family, and there will be no need for regular roof repairs. My children's bedroom will be an additional room in the new house. I would not like to see them walking around at night to sleep in the neighborhood. In addition, I would consider purchasing additional goats to supplement my income in the future."

"I was worried about how I would be paying my children's school fees. Whatever income I have been making from charcoal sales has always been insufficient to meet our nutritional needs. I struggle to raise school fees for my seven children. They are a number, and we do not have a consistent source of income. With the current security of my monthly income, I have set a goal of diverting most of my monthly transfers to pay for my children's school fees. I believe this will help them advance in their studies. I am glad they are doing well in school currently."

"Our old age can no longer allow us to work casually to earn a living. This exposes us to poverty and the inability to put food on the table. I plan to invest in the keeping and rearing of livestock. This an easy way of earning a living as well as growing wealth in our area."

"I chose to build a new, nice house after receiving the second transfer because the one I had was about to collapse. I trusted my son to buy the building supplies and to supervise the construction because I was illiterate and elderly. I have no idea how much money I spent on the house, but I am pleased to see that he followed my instructions. Since the drought season had lasted longer than expected and we had hardly any food, I also bought some food."

"GiveDirectly has been a terrific resource for us. We are all more content and grateful to the organization so much. I no longer have to lug water two hours away from my house because I have a fresh water tap that is always running. Not only do I appreciate the organization, but I'm also pleased with it. As of right now, I can think of no area where the company has performed poorly."

"I believe GiveDirectly performed admirably throughout my entire village because the officers went to every home and enrolled everyone without discrimination. It was also the best since it taught most of us how to handle money sensibly. We were taught how to spend money according to our desires. I consequently do not identify any areas where GiveDirectly fell short."

"Kilifi County has faced significant problems related to poverty. I congratulate GiveDirectly on achieving their goal of ending poverty. The location and our living standards have changed as a result of the unconditional transfer. Even though we are not quite where we want to be, we are not the same as we were before GiveDirectly's arrival. Without a doubt, the organization did wonderful work."

"The transfers came as a huge enabler to me and my family. We were insufficient in terms of milk production. We had always wanted to purchase a dairy cow but we did not have the means. When we got the transfers we used them to purchase a dairy cow worth KES 30000 at Chebunyo market, true to our intention it has assisted us in terms of milk productivity. Now we have enough for our daily consumption and surplus that we sell and use the proceeds to pay school fees. This has eased our lives and we are so elated about this."
