"I spent $300 of my second transfer on buying building materials such as cement, bricks and iron sheets. I had intended to renovate my house which was semipermanent and it was leaking whenever it rains. During those days, I used to seek shelter from my relatives who live far away from the village. It was a stressful moment for us as a family because at times we felt we are a burden to them. I am therefore thankful to God for sending GiveDirectly our way since they have transformed us positively. I no longer move from one household to the other just in case of any harsh weather conditions. I also bought a goat at $30 which I am currently keeping on my homestead. I have desired to rare them for quite some time but I could not afford to purchase even one using my since I have been jobless. I am now positive that I will have many of the within a short period hence through them I will achieve my other goals. To add to that, I had to clear fees of $30 for my five children in primary school. I am so grateful that they were finally able to sit for exams with their colleagues which is a motivation for them. With the remaining amount, I bought maiz flour, cereals and all the basic household items for my eight family members."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in almost the whole region making sure that no one was left out provided they were all from the same village. Also, the officers treated us with maximum respect hence there was smooth operation throughout their stay in our village. I can't mention anything that went astray or deserves attention."

"I spent part of my second transfer on buying building materials such as iron sheets, poles, timber and threads for a total of $260. I had intended to build a new house for my son who has been sheltering at his friend's house for quite some time. I felt it was not right considering he was a teenager there were high chances to engage himself with some of his immoral friends. Therefore having conducted this structure means a lot not only to my son but also to my entire family. We now have peace of mind as well as restore our dignity. Also, I cleared my farm which was very bushy and I am confident that when the rains come, I will be more than ready. Later on, I settled fees of $100 for my three children who are in primary school. I am glad that they will no longer be sent home due to the arrears. With the remaining amount of money, I bought food for my four family members which took us almost three weeks."

"When I received my second transfer, I decided to start a goat-rearing project because it is easier to maintain and fits the semi-arid climate of our area. As a result, I spent $150 on three goats. This was not possible before because I did not have a consistent source of income and had to rely on casual jobs. I then spent $80 on two bags of maize to alleviate our severe hunger. Finally, I purchased clothing for my wife and child. I am overjoyed that my dream of starting a goat project has finally come true in such a short time."

The challenge I face is looking for her school fees as it has now been increased from $30 to $50. This is hard for me to raise since I have been supporting children alone without the help of the father."

"My father Mr. Samuel Makhale is very sick and cannot walk due to his legs being paralysed andbhis old age. His sickness has led to us spending all the money we had on his hospital bills and feeding for now about 4years. Looking for the money to sustain his health is very hard and yet as their caretaker, I find it very hard to look for the money since I don't have any financial source. This constant need for money has led us to being g poor and constantly lacking. Also raising my children alone since the Separation of my husband for now 4 years. This is hard as I have to ensurevthat they go to school and at the same time feed them well at home."

"One of the challanges am currently experiencing is hunger due the flash floods that keep on destroying our crops on our snalk gardens whenever it rains heavily. The other challange am facing at the moment is lack of money to pay school fees for my children, I have 2 who are in high school, and the 7 grand children are in primary different classes and all of them needs school fees of which i cant afford to pay all their school dues. I depend on farming which has helped me to have food for my family and get some money out of my farm produce to meet other basic needs of my family. In the near future I plan to have commercial poutry farming which will produce milk and meat for selling in order to improve on my income."

"In the coming years, my ambition is to start a business in which I will be selling maize in our local market. This is because it has a ready market. I intend to save money from my casual work to fund this dream. Also, if we happen to find another donor who can sponsor us in the same way that the organization did. Above all, I am thankful for what I have accomplished thus far."
