"I haven't seen anything bad they do or may need to improve on. On the other hand, some things I noticed GiveDirectly do well are; since they started visiting our town, we are always informed of the next processes or steps in the program that they intend to make until the cash transfer became a reality. They also make follow up on us, making sure to solve some problems and that our cash is spent wisely."

""For the passed fifteen years, since my house was built, I was not able to fully complete the plastering of all the rooms due to unforeseen circumstances. And since than we have been living in it just like that. Notwithstanding, it had been my planned the one day I will be able to complete the plastering. Worse of all most of the zine started leaking again and this just made the condition worse. Now that I have started receiving transfers from GiveDirectly, my first priority is to recondition the entire building to a decent status. This is what I couldn't afford to do for the passed years. Thanks to GiveDirectly for this great help.""

"I have a very big number of dependants with no clear source of income. I'm currently living with three of my grand children who also have three children each. On top of that, I also have a son whose wife went to Qatar in search of job leaving him with two children whom are also basically under my care. I'm really struggling to feed this number. I sometimes receive some help from my son, but mainly I'm always on my own burning charcoal and selling firewood to make ends meet. I used to depend on my husband who was employed by a particular cargo company at the harbour but he passed away at the beginning of this year."

"I do not have a reliable source of income. I'm a mother of five living with my husband and my children. Two of them are already attending a local grade school both paying school fees of $50 per academic term. My husband used to be a taxi driver in Malindi town but he stopped a year ago due to low daily income of just $2 he was generating from it. Currently he got a job as a casual labourer with a Chinese company constructing a particular road nearby, a job that he just got two week ago and has not yet earned from it. Personally, I sell palm wine at this village's shopping center. This earns me around $10 in two days. As a family we've been surviving with this, though not enough to pay all our bills."

"I used to stay in Mombasa where my son works but ever since I got an accident to dislocate my leg for 4 years now, I was taken back home where I stay with my daughter. The relocation has not been easy for me since living in the village is hard and sometimes, I am forced to engage in farm work to get food despite having a leg problem. My son's attention on me is no longer reliable and this means forfeiting meals on some days. What a life of worries! I am currently depending majorly on my grandson who sends cash to his mother for food. I, therefore, consider the lack of financial support from my children as the biggest challenge that I am currently facing."

"I live in a polygamous family where my husband has 2 wives with a total of 11 household members. This has posed a challenge to us since our spouse is jobless and it has forced me to engage in charcoal work to earn money that can sustain the needs of my 3 children. Considering this job, its income is very low say, ($30 per month), it is very hard for me to fully support my children's education. This challenge has already affected my secondborn because despite having good marks for a slot in secondary school, she never joined. What a stressful life as a mother! Hence, I consider financial instability as my biggest challenge."

"I have struggled with high blood pressure for years but at the moment it is taking a toll on me. My health is deteriorating, I am prone to infections and walking is becoming a challenge. I am focused to carry out light tasks at home, limiting my movements also. Most of the time I am sick and sad and this does not help with my condition."
