Kadzitu
received a $392 initial payment.
"With a dilapidated roof and weak walls, I knew the house that had been my shelter could not withstand the heavy rains and even strong winds. I was afraid it would collapse on me at any moment, but there was nothing I could do because I did not have enough money to buy building materials to build a new house. It was not until I got the transfer that I was able to purchase building materials like iron sheets, building poles, and nails. My dream of owning a large iron-roofed house was finally realized. The new house makes the most difference because if I had built the house on my own, which I had already tried and failed at, it would have taken me years to complete."

Margaret
received a $392 initial payment.
"That afternoon, I was returning from my farm after spending hours weeding and tending to my crops. I got a message on my phone and was curious about who sent it. It was, to my surprise, the one message I had been anticipating: I had received my first transfer from GiveDirectly. I felt relieved and happy because the money allowed my two sons, who are currently in high school, to return to class after missing a few days due to my inability to raise the required fees."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in all their operations. The enrollment team was well organized and everything ran smoothly. I do not see anything that I was not pleased with."

Talai
received a $322 second payment.
"I have endured a protracted period of poverty. I can no longer perform laborious tasks like fetching water or performing some menial occupations because of my advanced age. As a result, I intend to invest in livestock farming, particularly the raising of goats. This is a fantastic investment since not only will the number grow quickly, but I will also receive milk that I can count on when I don't have any money for food. In addition, I will occasionally sell them to raise money for food purchases, primarily maize flour."

"GiveDirectly should occassionaly visit people, identify those who did not spend well their first transfer and maybe use their next transfer to do something for them. I believe that by doing so, the company will be able to achieve the aim of alleviating poverty in the society so that once ones transfer have completed, they will not remain the same."

Chesire
received a $322 second payment.
"I come from an arid area where we depend on subsistence farming. At times, we plant crops that end up drying out due to a lack of rainfall. GiveDirectly coming to our region and deciding to give us aid in terms of cash is the best thing that an organization can do. I do not see anything that did not go well, and I would just wish that they continued with the good work."

John
received a $322 second payment.
"I purchased ten pieces of iron sheets and some steel when I got my second transfer. I intend to construct a more opulent home for myself using these resources. This is because I don't like where my current home is located. For a very long time, I had wanted to relocate to another area of my farm but had not been able to do so because of a lack of resources. In addition to these, I bought some millet seeds and hired some individuals to help me prepare my field for planting and weeding. Since these crops are more prevalent in our region and are drought resistant, I decided to go with them. Additionally, I spent money on a water storage tank and some food items."

Christinah
received a $322 second payment.
"Three of my children and I currently reside in a single home; among them is my son, who is presently a class eight student. When my son was old enough to need his own room, I had planned to construct him one, but I lacked the money to do so. I decided to dedicate $150 of my second transfer to the project since I thought it was a fantastic opportunity when I received the transfer. My daughter, who attends the polytechnic, accounted for a sizable portion of the $180 that I spent on all three of my children's school expenses. I bought two goats for $90 with the remaining transfer, and I also paid $42 for food."

"The excellent officials at Givedirectly take the time to talk to you and make sure you understand everything; they are so kind to us. This is what I appreciate about them. I'm also appreciative that they provided assistance in our region because we are so in need. However, there is one thing I can ask for: please keep providing assistance to us as we still require it."
